Adventure Ministry - A Pilot Trip

For those who love adventure and the outdoors, Mineral Creek, NM, is an ideal setting. This time, Corey and Jake decided to take on the challenge—what we expected to be a straightforward trek turned into an unexpectedly intense yet rewarding journey.

Friday: Rising Waters and Tough Decisions

Setting out under clear skies, Corey and Jake were ready for an exciting weekend. However, as soon as we approached the creek, we realized that recent rains had raised the water level far beyond the usual. What we’d anticipated as ankle-deep crossings had become waist-high challenges, with currents strong enough to make each step an exercise in balance.

As we navigated the first few crossings, it became clear that this wouldn’t be the easygoing hike we’d imagined. We considered turning back, but the promise of the campsite and the draw of adventure pushed us forward. At one particularly difficult spot, the idea of setting up a rope system was tempting, but we opted instead to cross carefully, step-by-step, and support each other when the rocks became too slippery.

Reaching Camp: A Site Worth the Trek

Finally, we reached a sprawling campsite, perfect for our tents and hammocks, with space left for others who might wander by. Though we hadn’t made it as far down the trail as planned, the area was spacious and peaceful, surrounded by the sounds of the forest and views that were well worth the effort.

With daylight fading, we set up camp, relaxed with the satisfaction of the day’s trek, and made plans for an early start in the morning. Under a sky lit with stars, the sense of camaraderie grew—a feeling only strengthened by the shared challenge of the day.

Saturday: A Journey to the Waterfall Cave

With the new day came our main goal: the waterfall cave. The trail to the cave was rough but navigable, and we took it slow to ensure no one slipped or got hurt on the slick, muddy patches. Eventually, we arrived at the waterfall—a mesmerizing cascade framed by the cave’s dark entrance. We soaked in the cool mist, feeling triumphant and refreshed.

Sticking together, taking our time, and offering a hand when needed turned the entire experience into something more than just a hike. It was a reminder of the value of patience, teamwork, and the pure joy of exploring nature, even when it’s unpredictable.

Reflections on Another Great Adventure

Looking back, this trip to Mineral Creek, NM, was more than just a hike. The high waters, tricky crossings, and shared efforts reminded us of the rewards of perseverance and support. Each moment felt like a new challenge to overcome and made us grateful for the outdoors and each other’s company.

For Corey and Jake, Mineral Creek has given us yet another set of great memories—and a reminder of why we seek these adventures in the first place. Here’s to more trips, more memories, and more adventures to come!
